Venturing into the corporate world, bicycling and hiking
On May of 2016, I let go of my professional studio to venture in the corporate world, to become a better cyclist and to hike all the mountains I could hike. Please know, that this is only a break as painting and creating are part of my core identity. In the mean time, I hope we cross paths somewhere on a bike ride, a hike or at an open studio of fellow artists. Sincerely, Johane
SILICON VALLEY OPEN STUDIO - invitation
More than 30 artists will be opening their studio this weekend at the Alameda Art Works located at 1068 the Alameda, in San Jose.
The studios are open this Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18th, from 11 am to 5 pm.
I will be in Studio 16. Bring friends and family and come see the pieces we have been working on all year. :)

Heritage House - the painting of a mosaic for the mothers in need
In December of 2013, I was asked to paint a mural at the Heritage House; a house to help mothers in need. A group of designer and other professionals came together to re-design few rooms in the house that needed some help. Here you see the mosaic I painted in the dining room; the flowers are dancing, mothers and baby flowers all together. All around the room, we created an abstract border covered with a designer paper. This involved the help of several volunteers. The floor was also changed to a new flooring made of cork. The result was rewarding.

McKinley Art Solutions and the University of California, San Francisco's Center of Excellence present: An Evening With The Artists of Serenity: Open Mind Wednesday, April 30 5:30 - 7:30pm You are invited to join the artists for the opening of SERENITY:Open Mind at the UCSF Women's Health Center in San Francisco. UCSF Women's Health will be providing wine and light hors d'oeuvres for your enjoyment and all works from the show will be available for purchase. Sponsored by the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health and curated by Matt McKinley, the 'Serenity' series invites Bay Area artists to present a body of work that interprets the idea of ‘serenity’ in order to inspire relaxation, well-being and calm. With the understanding that wellness is a holistic ideal, these artists create work that will enrich the environment of the Women’s Health Center in order to engage and uplift visitors and staff alike. The exhibit covers 5 floors of the Women's Health Center: 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, which each artist displaying a complete body of work on their respective floor. This installment of the ‘Serenity’ series uses panoramic forest views, people communing, and abstractions inspired by travel, love and expansive horizons metaphorically to suggest an open-minded perspective is important to fostering positive thought. Eric Larson, exhibiting on Floor 3, uses panoramic photography to create opportunities to visualize grand spaces in ways not possible with conventional photography. Floor 4 artist Johane Amirault embraces a fully intuitive creative process, using vibrant colors to express emotional state. One enthusiastic collector says of her work, “Her colors to remind us all that it is a wonderful, colorful world we live in and how we can impact that positively.” OnFloor 5, artist John Melvin, former President of the Board at ArtSpan who has devoted himself to painting after a long corporate finance career, gains inspiration from the ‘ordinary joys’ of living: days at the beach, spending casual time at a favorite neighborhood café, conversations between close friends. Florence Schwartz Harlan brings a wealth of experience in travel and art to each canvas that results in complex and colorful place-inspired imagery. Her work onFloor 6 exemplifies what it means to let your creativity be influenced by new cultures and diverse locales. Artist Linda Donohue, showing on floor 7, a Northern California native, continues to gain inspiration from the seashores with which she is intimately familiar. Her work translates the serenity of being at the ocean’s edge, bringing the color, calm and peace to each of her client’s homes and offices. The collection gathered by curator Matt McKinley for this exhibit demonstrates that through formal emphasis, format or imagery art facilitates space for entering a positive, or open-minded, mindset. Vibrant Color; Talk Art Interview with Johane Amirault
10 artists are invited every year to talk about their art on "Talk Art" hosted by Sally Rayn and produced by Nance Wheeler.
I am excited and honored to have been one of these 10 invited artists this year to describe my paintings and demonstrates how I build the layers of luminous colors. The filming, live-to-tape, was done on June 7th, 2012 at the Mid-peninsula Media Center in Palo Alto, California. The show was broadcasted throughout Silicon valley and New York.
